Hakata Gion Yamakasa is a traditional festival held every July in Fukuoka City. This festival has a history of more than 700 years, and is a spectacular sight to behold as the men carry the brightly colored decorative Yamakasa (decorated floats) through the streets of the city. It is considered an important cultural event in Fukuoka.
