Its narrow alleys are densely packed with long-established ryotei restaurants, teahouses, and small bars, where visitors can enjoy Kyoto’s traditional food culture. Ponto-cho is especially famous for its traditional Kyoto cuisine and maiko (apprentice geisha). At night, the area is lit by lanterns, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
