The Kanmon Straits Fireworks Festival is held every year on August 13th in the Kanmon Straits, which separate Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Approximately 15,000 fireworks can be enjoyed from both sides of the strait.

2. 戸畑祇園大山笠
Tobata Gion Oo Yamakasa
The Tobata Gion Oo Yamakasa is a traditional festival held every July in the Tobata district of Kitakyushu city. Elaborately decorated floats parade through the streets, accompanied by the powerful sound of drums. It’s a major summer event for locals and attracts many tourists who come to watch the festival.

4. 皿倉山展望台

Sarakurayama is a mountain situated almost in the center of Kitakyushu City, with an elevation of 622 meters.
