The major cities in Nagasaki Prefecture are Nagasaki City and Sasebo City.
It is in Nagasaki City that much of the history of the war is etched. In addition, Nagasaki City was the only trading port during the period when Japan was closed to the outside world. As a result, the town is dotted with many Western-style buildings and churches.

Another major city in Nagasaki Prefecture is Sasebo. Sasebo is particularly famous for its many beautiful natural tourist attractions and Huis Ten Bosch, the largest theme park in Japan.
